Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph says he is hungry for more starts after playing in the 1-1 draw against Manchester United on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old made his third Premier League start of the season, and his first since 26 September at Blackburn.

"To play well in games, it gives you confidence and everybody around you confidence," Delph told BBC WM.

"I've definitely got a lot more to add, but hopefully by playing more games I can get more experience."

The England Under-21 international joined Villa from Leeds for an undisclosed fee in August, and started on the opening day of the season, a 2-0 defeat by Wigan at Villa Park.

Since then, Delph has been limited to appearances in the Carling Cup and the FA Cup, competitions in which Villa are still involved this season.

They play United again in the final of the Carling Cup at Wembley on 28 February, while their next game is in the fifth round of the FA Cup, away at Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Delph is hopeful that manager Martin O'Neill will persevere with him in the centre of midfield.

"He's helped me leaps and bounds," he added. "He's given me a few chances, but I haven't taken them.

"Hopefully he'll keep believing in me, give me the odd start here and there and I can do well."
