| Friday, 16 August, 2002, 07:14 GMT 08:14 UK Carini move in doubt ![]() Arsenal are not 'optimistic' about signing Carini Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a goalkeeping crisis to deal with just days before his side kick-off the defence of their Premiership title. It has emerged that Uruguayan international keeper Fabian Carini's loan move from Juventus is in danger of collapse after the two parties failed to agree personal terms. It was thought the deal was completed but it appears not and, with Wenger having sold Richard Wright to Everton, the Gunners boss could be short of goalkeeping cover. "He has not yet been registered because he has not yet signed his contract," said Wenger. "We were under the impression that personal terms had been agreed but that has turned out not to be the case," added Wenger. "We will know in the next 48 hours if the matter will be resolved. "But I have to say I am not optimistic and if he returns to Juventus then I have a problem." |
