Arbroath challenge Webster cash

Andy Webster
Webster had been on loan to Rangers from Wigan

Arbroath could turn to the Scottish Football Association to help them settle a dispute with Hearts over Andy Webster's sell-on clause.

The ex-Red Lichties defender finally joined Rangers this week, having previously quit Hearts for Wigan.

Now the Second Division club say they want a percentage of the 150,000 that Wigan paid Hearts.

But the Tynecastle club are disputing the amount due and Arbroath claim a shortfall of around 10,000.

Hearts had said in April that they would pay 26,000 to Arbroath, who this season won promotion from Division Three.

MY SPORT: DEBATE

Webster left Gayfield in 2001 before making history by using Fifa legislation to terminate his Hearts contract and join Wigan.

Hearts wanted 4m for the injury-troubled Scotland central defender, who was meantime farmed out to Rangers on loan.

However, following a long legal dispute, the Court of Arbitration of Sport ruled that the Scottish Premier League club should receive just 150,000 in compensation.
