Hearts say they will shortly pay Arbroath the 26,000 they are due as part of Andy Webster's transfer from Tynecastle to Wigan Athletic in 2006.
The Third Division side are now set to cash in on their former player courtesy of a sell-on clause.
The Scotland international defender was sold by Hearts for 150,000.
"The money the club due from Wigan was paid within the last few weeks and Arbroath will now receive their cut," a Hearts spokesperson said.
Webster left Gayfield for Hearts in 2001 and is currently on loan at Rangers from Wigan.
Hearts had initially wanted 4m for the centre-half and received 625,000 in compensation from the English Premier League side and the player himself.
That was contested in January by Webster via the Court of Arbitration of Sport, which ruled that compensation should be just 150,000.
