Boss Graham Heathcote was distraught as Altrincham were relegated following their failure to beat Aldershot. Alty poured forward throughout but were unable to find the breakthrough and were held to a 0-0 home draw.
"I'm gutted because that performance warranted a win," Heathcote said. "But football is a simple game, you have to hit the back of the net.
"I can't fault the players for their application and their use of the ball but we sometimes lacked composure."
