Aldershot's Straker boosted by loan spell at Wycombe

Aldershot defender Anthony Straker says he has gained in confidence after his loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers.

The 22-year-old played four games in a one-month spell with the Chairboys under former Shots boss Gary Waddock.

Straker told BBC Surrey: "It helped to be with some management and staff who had been here before.

"Coming back puts you in a different mindset and you're ready to try new things. Now I'm back here I just want to get in the team."

After ending a nine-game winless streak with a 1-0 victory over Torquay on Tuesday, the Shots now lie 11 points off both the League Two play-off places and relegation zone.

"We're definitely hoping to go up the table and not down," added Straker.

"We're on a fresh start and we can kick on in that last straight at the end of the season.

"I think we'll be able to get a play-off spot."
