Aldershot Town midfielder Luke Guttridge says manager Kevin Dillon's persistence was key in his decision to join the club.

The 28-year-old signed a two-year deal with last week, following his released from Northampton Town.

Guttridge told BBC Surrey: "I said to my agent that there's a manager here who really wants me.

"The big thing is he was trying to get me in all summer. I just wanted to repay the faith."

The former Cambridge man added the Shots' style of play was also a factor in his choice.

"It's very rare you get teams in the lower leagues who try to play football," he said.

"I liked what I saw and from what my agent and other people said it seemed like the right place to come and play football."

Guttridge has made over 300 senior appearances in a career that has included spells at Southend and Colchester.
