Skipper quietly confident Shots are in play-off picture

Charles believes all the Division Two play-off places are now up for grabs

Aldershot captain Anthony Charles believes the Shots are back in serious play-off contention after back-to-back wins in League Two.

In just their second season since returning to the Football League, Aldershot have already surpassed last season's points total.

Charles told BBC Surrey: "It's all to play for. The team in third and all the play-off positions are really tight.

"We had some poor results, but a couple of good ones and that's all it takes".

But Charles is wary about talking up Aldershot's chances.

"We can't get too carried away," he warned. "I don't think anyone should be talking about play-offs and Wembley now, because it would be silly. We're going to have to take it every game at a time and just aim for the three points each week".

The central defender has had to cover at left-back recently in the absence of Andy Sandell, and admits it has taken him a game or two to adapt.

"I had my first game there at Bradford, and was maybe attacking a bit too much which puts a bit of pressure on the other boys," he admitted.

"My preferred position is at centre-half, but I want to play every week and if I'm doing that, it doesn't really matter where I play".
