Aldershot striker John Grant admits frustration

Aldershot striker John Grant is frustrated at what he claims is a lack of input from boss Kevin Dillon as he looks to cement a first-team place.

Grant, 29, has started just one game this season but scored as a substitute in Saturday's 6-1 defeat at Burton.

He told BBC Surrey: "The gaffer's not spoken to any of the lads who have not been in the squad and said what he wants from us or anything.

"He only really speaks to the XI that are playing. That's been frustrating."

Grant, who plans to move back to his native north west at the end of the season, feels he should have started against Burton Albion on Saturday, but does not believe his imminent departure is a factor in failing to secure a regular place.

"If you're a manager, no matter what, you're going to pick your team that you think is capable of winning, to be fair," he said.

"When Marvin Morgan was injured, I thought I'd start, but managers make decisions and some decisions I don't agree with, some I do, but I felt I could have started against Burton and done well.

"It's good to get off the mark, I've only started one game and scored one goal, in the reserves I've started seven and scored six.

"I've not been playing much, but the team's being doing well so I've had to sit on the bench but it's been frustrating."
