Accrington are enjoying their best season under Coleman

Accrington manager John Coleman believes Saturday's FA Cup fourth round tie with Fulham is just reward for his side's efforts this season.

Stanley earned £67,500 prize money after booking their place in the fourth round of the competition by beating Gillingham on Tuesday.

"Financially it's a great boost for us," Coleman told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'd like to think we'd have a bumper crowd on Saturday. My lads have given everything all season."

Accrington were in danger of going out of business last year when they faced a winding up order from HM Revenue and Customs.

But despite the initial uncertainty over the club's future, Stanley have since repaid their outstanding debts.

And Coleman believes the cup run is giving his players the chance to grab positive headlines and earn national recognition for their efforts.

"I don't want the staff to earn the plaudits because it should all go to the players," he said.

"I know some of the fans might argue, and fair play because they do help us along, but without players there'd be no-one to support.

"The average age here is 20 or 21 yet they keep pulling out big performances and the desire they've got will take them a long way."
