Aluko had joined the Nigeria Under-20 squad in Spain
Sone Aluko has been cleared to play for Nigeria in the Under-20 World Cup after adhering to the orders of Aberdeen to return there and prove his fitness.
The club had said that Aluko had left for the Nigerian's training camp in Spain without their permission.
But manager Mark McGhee told the Dons website: "I now understand that Sone left on Tuesday in good faith.
"He has returned to Aberdeen to explain his understanding of the events, which he has done to my satisfaction."
The 20-year-old has been declared fit by Aberdeen's medical team and has been included in their squad for Saturday's visit by St Mirren in the Scottish Premier League.
Aluko, a former England Under-19 international who made his full Nigeria debut in May after switching allegiance, will thereafter rejoin his team-mates for the tournament in Egypt.
The World Cup starts on 24 September and Aberdeen face losing the player until 16 October should Nigeria reach the final.
And McGhee had been angered that Aluko picked up a knock while training with Nigeria last week, blaming the use of an artificial pitch.
Aluko was restricted to an appearance as a substitute during Monday's 0-0 draw at Falkirk, coming off the bench after 55 minutes.
Afterwards, McGhee stressed that Aluko would only be allowed to represent his country once he had been thoroughly checked by the club's medical staff and passed fit.
Releasing players for Fifa Under-20 tournaments is not compulsory and the manager said that Aluko had not convinced him that he was 100% fit in the match against Falkirk.
However, the player then left for Spain without the club's permission, although McGhee suggested there might have been "a bit of a misunderstanding".
Aluko has now returned to Scotland and, after what McGhee described as "a very positive meeting" on Friday, has been cleared to play for his chosen country.
