Calderwood says the club must match his ambition |
Aberdeen director of football Willie Miller has denied that he is set to hold showdown talks over the future of manager Jimmy Calderwood. Miller played down Thursday's meeting with Calderwood saying it is one of a series of routine meetings to thrash out a transfer kitty for new players.
"It's no secret that Jimmy wants more money for players," Miller said.
"We've tried to accommodate him in the past and will do in the future but this club doesn't have fortunes to spend."
"We had to wait until qualification for the group stages of the Uefa Cup was assured before we knew our budget," Miller added.

Calderwood is seeking clarification over his transfer budget before committing to a new contract.
"I'll have a meeting with Willie on Thursday to discuss the way ahead but no-one knows what's going to happen," said Calderwood.
"If everything's all right then you stay, but I need to ask if they can fulfil our ambitions."
Calderwood has led the Dons to the Uefa Cup group stages this season and the club are currently seventh in the SPL table.
The Dons boss said he believed the board shared his vision for taking the club forward, but stressed he would need to sit down with Miller to discuss his plans.
"The directors have to show me what their ideas are for the way the entire club is going, then we take it from there," said Calderwood.
"The current team is doing well but we have done a lot of scouting at younger age levels and these players might still cost money to bring to the club.
"We've been lucky to get the likes of Scott Severin, Jamie Smith, Jeffrey de Visscher and Lee Miller for no transfer fee, but you can't keep building with nothing."
