Aberdeen's Scott Severin (right) scored his first goal since October 2007
Aberdeen and Dundee United had to settle for a share of the points after an entertaining New Firm derby.
Francisco Sandaza gave United an early lead from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Zander Diamond.
The Dons got the equaliser they deserved straight after the re-start from a Scott Severin deflection.
David Robertson fired United ahead in the 56th minute against the run of play, before Diamond's header with 18 minutes restored parity.
The result means United maintain their two-point advantage over their hosts in the fourth-placed Europa League spot.
However, the Dons might feel that, on the balance of play, they should have leap-frogged their opponents.
Aberdeen were presented with an early opportunity when Chris Maguire sent a low shot whizzing past the post, after United defender Danny Grainger failed to clear the ball.
It was another defensive error that presented United with the opening goal.
On 10 minutes Aberdeen's Diamond miss-hit an attempted pass-back, then tugged Sandaza's shirt as the Spaniard intercepted in the box.
The Dons defender was shown a yellow card by referee Willie Collum, and Sandaza slammed the ball into the roof of the net for his third goal in as many matches against the Dons.
However, that was to prove a rare foray forward for United, as the hosts began to take hold of the game.
As the Dons desperately searched for an equaliser, Chris Maguire forced a fine save from Lukasz Zaluska with a fierce front-post shot that the Celtic-bound keeper did well to parry away.
United striker Warren Feeney had Jamie Langfield worried with a low drive that flew past the goalkeeper's post, before Dons' Charlie Mulgrew cleared the bar by inches from a trademark free-kick.
It took only 15 second of the second period for Aberdeen to get the equaliser their first-half play deserved.
Mulgrew's low cross across the six yard box was met by Mihail Kovacevic, who only succeeding in ricocheting the ball off Severin and into the net to hand the Dons captain his first goal since October 2007.
Langfield kept Aberdeen level when he produced a wonderful instinctive save to tip Feeney's lob away.
But the goalkeeper could do nothing to prevent United going ahead on 56 minutes, when David Robertson lashed a shot into the roof of the net via a slight deflection, after Paul Caddis' cut-back at the byeline.
Lee Miller was left cursing his luck after he slammed a header off the bar from six yards after yet more good play from the Dons.
However, with just over 15 minutes remaining Diamond's presence caused problems in the United area, and managed to glance a header past Zaluska.
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood: "I'm very frustrated. The tale of our games against Dundee United over the last few years is that we keep giving them goals.
"But all credit to my boys, they showed a lot of character to come from behind and they worked so hard to get our goals.
"I thought we dominated it and we seemed to be in the ascendancy all the time.
"So I can't fault the players apart from two stupid mistakes."
Dundee United manager Craig Levein: "I felt exasperated for long spells today. But I can't fault the boys for their effort and they showed plenty of grit and determination.
"Perhaps trying to play football was our biggest fault because we kept on getting caught on the ball on a very difficult pitch.
"Even at 2-2 we both kept trying to get that winner, so it made for exciting entertainment for those watching, but a nervous second 45 for myself.
"This is a hard place to come so we'll take a point up here."
