The Greenock side's run includes victories over all their main promotion rivals. And, although they still lie second three points behind leaders East Fife, McCormack's men have two games in hand. But the highlight for Morton during January was the shock Scottish Cup victory over First Division Ross County in Dingwall. McCormack replaced the sacked Dave McPherson as boss at Cappielow in November and has again showed that he has the ability to lead clubs in lower divisions into title contention. He was sacked by Dundee in 1998 despite having led them to promotion to the Scottish Premier League. McCormack was also in charge as Queen's Park were promoted as champions from the Second Division in 2000 only to come straight back down after losing many of his best players to professional clubs. | See also: 20 Nov 02 | Scot Div 3 Top Scot Div 3 stories now: Links to more Scot Div 3 stories are at the foot of the page. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
