Port Talbot's first game in Europe in their 109-year history ended in a 3-1 defeat at Finnish side TPS Turku's Veritas Stadion.
The visitors trailed 3-0 at the break as Riku Ruski scored either side of Babatunde Wusu's strike.
But the Welsh Premier Cup finalists came out on top in the second half of the Uefa Europa League first qualifying round, first leg.
Port Talbot's Martin Rose hit the back of the net in the 70th minute.
The rematch takes place at Victoria Road on Thursday, 8 July.
