Wrexham advanced to the semi-final of the FAW Premier Cup with a 2-0 win over Newport at Spytty Park. The League Two side will now welcome Welsh Premier leaders TNS to the Racecourse for the semi-final on Wednesday 1 February.
Jon Walters gave Wrexham the lead in the 54th minute following good work from Alex Smith and Mike Williams.
Newport put up a real fight but Walters killed the game with a close-range goal which the hosts felt was offside.
