Future of Glentoran striker Gary Hamilton is unclear
Gary Hamilton has not played for Glentoran this season
The future of Glentoran striker Gary Hamilton appears unclear amid reports that he is no longer wanted at the Oval and is being tracked by Glenavon.
Glenavon chairman Adrian Teer has said that Hamilton "is one of a number of players" that his club would be keen to sign before the transfer window closes.
Glentoran chairman Aubry Ralph told the Belfast Telegraph that he believes Hamilton will leave the Oval in August.
Hamilton however has indicated that he expects to see out his Oval contract.
It is understood that the former Northern Ireland international believes the only way he will not be a Glentoran player by the end of August will be if a loan deal can be agreed and the clubs can agree to share his wages.
Ralph told the Belfast Telegraph that the Glens "would not be difficult to deal with" and added that he was confident that Hamilton would not be a Glentoran player by the end of the transfer window.
It is believed that a breakdown in relations between the former Northern Ireland international and Glentoran manager Scott Young could lead to the player's hasty exit from the East Belfast club.
Lurgan Blues boss Marty Quinn told the BBC that he believes a deal is "unlikely" before the window closes at the end of August.
This may be due to a number of possible stumbling blocks, including the fact that the player is reported to be suffering from an injury and clubs may be reluctant to sign a player who may miss a lengthy part of the season.
Another possible problem would be Hamilton's wages, which most Irish League clubs would be unable to afford.
A possible loan move or a delay in a transfer until the January transfer window appear the more likely options.
