Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has been released from a Dublin hospital after surgery for an abdominal complaint.
The 71-year-old Italian was admitted to the Mater Hospital last Tuesday after vomiting and suffering abdominal pain.
The discomfort was caused by minor scar tissue from a previous procedure and an operation a day later eased the pain.
Trapattoni missed the Republic's 1-0 defeat by Argentina at the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin.
His assistant Marco Tardelli took charge for the Republic's first game at their new home, the £350million, 50,000-seater Aviva Stadium.
The Irish manager arrived in Dublin suffering with vomiting, which he believed had been caused by food poisoning after eating shellfish in Italy.
After being taken to hospital, Trapattoni underwent a series of blood and urine tests, as well as x-rays and an ECG.
The prognosis was that the continual vomiting was aggravating the scar tissue, so causing the abdominal pains which necessitated the surgery.
