Shay Given returns to the Republic of Ireland squad for the friendly match against Argentina at the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin on 11 August.
The Manchester City goalkeeper is part of a 28-man squad named by Republic manager Giovanni Trapattoni.
"It will be a special occasion for everyone to be involved in the first game in the Aviva Stadium and Argentina will be a tough test," said Trapattoni.
"We must use it to strengthen our squad for the opening Euro 2012 qualifiers."
"The game comes at a crucial time in our preparation for the opening qualifiers against Armenia and Andorra in September," he added.
The squad includes eleven players who took part in the summer training camp in May, with Cillian Sheridan joining the panel after the under-21 game against Estonia on 10 August.
Diego Maradona is no longer manager of Argentina after being sacked.
