Coleraine's Sammy Morrow has been banned for three months after being found to have made bets on a number of games in which he played.

The matches are understood to have included a number of Derry City games while he was on duty at the Brandywell.

The Fifa ruling means Morrow misses the rest of the season, including the Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Glentoran on 27 March.

The 25-year-old signed for Coleraine in early February after leaving Derry.

The former Northern Ireland Under-21 international was reported to have admitted to a number of the offences relating to a small number games.

Morrow opted not to remain with Derry City after the club's recent financial difficulties and agreed an 18-month deal with the Bannsiders.

Morrow had three years at Ipswich after signing for the club in 2001 and he has also had spells at Boston United, Hibernian, Livingston and Partick Thistle.
