David McClements in action against Newry City's Ross Black

Newry City and Institute fought out a drab goal-less draw in difficult conditions in the Carling Premiership at the Showgrounds on Tuesday night.

The best early chance fell to Institute when a ball from David McClements found Shaun Holmes but the former Glentoran and Derry player's shot shaved the bar.

Alan Davidson then had a couple of chances for Newry.

He had a shot palmed over by Gavin Cullen and then shot straight into the hands of the Institute goalkeeper.

In the second half Declan Divin sent a half-volley wide of the target
