A late Paul Munster header gave Linfield the edge in a low-key Co- operative Insurance Cup quarter-final first leg at the Oval.
A drab encounter looked destined for a draw when Munster scored in the 82nd minute after Jim Ervin's bye-line call had caught out keeper Elliott Morris.
The best chance before that fell to Colin Nixon who saw his shot well saved by Linfield keeper Stuart Addis.
