Crusaders and Glentoran draw 1-1 in the Carling Irish Premiership clash at Seaview

Premiership champions Glentoran had to settle for a point away to second-placed Crusaders in the first match on the new 3-G pitch at Seaview.

Glentoran, hammered 6-0 by Coleraine a week earlier, took the lead through a 29th-minute Gary Hamilton penalty.

Referee Mark Courtney pointed to the spot after Crues skipper Colin Coates had slid in to foul Kyle Neill area.

Jordan Owens equalised in the 60th minute with a long-range shot which keeper James Taylor should have saved.

Glentoran mounted late pressure in an attempt to snatch a winner.

Michael Halliday, on for the injured Hamilton, had a diving header saved by Crusaders goalkeeper Chris Keenan.

Deep into stoppage-time Keenan made another superb save to tip away an effort from Andrew Waterworth who was also on as a sub.

For Crusaders, Martin Donnelly had a good chance but shot wide after Mark Dickson had squared the ball.
