Two own goals proved Glenavon's downfall as Cliftonville claimed a narrow success at Solitude.
Jay Magee lobbed his own keeper in trying to cut out a through ball and Willo McDonagh also netted an own goal.
Ronan Scannell made it 3-0 in the second half but he was sent-off for a hand ball which allowed McDonagh to pull one back from the penalty spot.
McDonagh made it 3-2 on 83 minutes with Glenavon's Tony Grant sent-off seconds later after tangling with Liam Fleming.
