Jimmy Brown has departed Distillery after a poor start to the season

Jimmy Brown's brief reign as Lisburn Distillery manager has ended after he left on Friday by mutual consent.

Brown took over from Paul Kirk in May but the Whites have failed to win in the Carling Premiership this season and are seven points adrift at the bottom.

"I am doing this for the good of the club," said Brown, who received a torrent of abuse from a section of fans during the midweek defeat by Ballymena.

Tony Gorman and Harry Fay will take temporary charge of the team.

Gorman was assistant boss under Brown while Fay was Distillery coach.

New Grosvenor chairman Jim McGrory said he was disappointed that Brown was leaving the club.

"I am devastated for the club and Jimmy Brown, and we are very disappointed that things have not worked out," he added.

"Nine players from last season's team left in the summer and Jimmy brought in five or six new players.

"If anything the team looked better this season on paper.

"We have to get that first win and move off the bottom of the table."

Gorman and Fay will manage the team for the first time in Tuesday night's league visit to Coleraine.
