An own goal by Glentoran keeper Elliott Morris gives Glenavon a 2-2 draw at Mourneview Park

Glenavon came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with league champions Glentoran at Mourneview Park.

Kyle Neill missed a 51st minute penalty but Richard Clarke scored the opener with a firm drive past Andy Plummer from 18 yards out two minutes later.

Jonny Taylor added the second with a glancing header into the far corner on 63 but Willo McDonagh rose to head home Jay Magee's cross in the 77th minute.

Elliott Morris kicked an attempted clearance into his own goal after 81.

The first clear cut chance of the game fell to Keith Gillespie in the 11th minute but his 20-yard shot fizzed over the bar.

After 28 minutes, McDonagh created space for himself but his hard, low shot was pushed out by Morris.

Referee Adrian McCourt adjudged that Mark Gracey had handled inside the area but Neill's spot-kick was blocked by Plummer, and the ball was then stabbed against the post and eventually cleared.

Clarke broke the deadlock and then Taylor met Neill's free-kick to head home the second.

McDonagh's goal gave the Lurgan Blues hope and then Morris bizarrely found his own empty net as he attempted to clear.

James Costello got on the end of a long free-kick by Trevor Molloy but after he rounded Morris, the ball got tangled among his feet.

Taylor then tackled the forward and the ball ran free to Morris, who netted the equaliser.
