Portadown sign midfielder Mackle

Lurgan-born Sean Mackle qualifies to play for Scotland

Former Hearts and Scotland Under-21 midfielder Sean Mackle has joined Carling Premiership club Portadown.

Mackle, recently released by League of Ireland outfit Dundalk, comes from Lurgan and qualifies to play for Scotland through his mother.

Mackle, 21, signed a five-year contract with Hearts in 2007 and had a loan period at Cowdenbeath.

Meanwhile, Stephen Parkhouse has rejoined Institute from Sligo Rovers and Glenavon have released Tim McCann.
