Jonny Black has been on stand-by for the NI Under-21 on previous occasions
Glentoran's Jonny Black was left disappointed after a blunder led to his name being included in the Northern Ireland Under-21 squad by mistake.
The original squad announcement for the games against the Czech Republic and Iceland listed the Glens defender instead of Blackburn's Jonny Flynn.
"My team-mate Sean Ward contacted me on Facebook to tell me that I had been included in the squad," said Black.
"I didn't get my hopes up too much but it was still a bit disappointing."
Black added:"I suspected that it might have been a mistake as I hadn't really expected to be in the squad, even though I was on stand-by for the Under-21s for the last few games.
"The fact that I wasn't officially contacted by the IFA also made me wonder if a mistake had been made and eventually I contacted them and they told me that a mistake had been made and that it was Jonny Flynn who was in the squad."
The IFA apologised to the Glentoran player for the mistake and Black says that the matter is now closed.
"It is a bit disappointing. I would love to have played for the Under-21s because I have now turned 21 and my chance may have gone."
