Derry City beat Latvian side Skonto Riga 1-0 at the Brandywell to secure a 2-1 aggregate win in their Europa League second qualifying round tie.
Both sides had chances to break the deadlock but Kevin Deery found the net in the 57th minute to ensure victory for the Candystripes.
Derry will now face Bulgarian team CSKA Sofia in the third qualifying round of the tournament.
The first leg is in Sofia on 30 July, with the return leg on 6 August.
Deery's long-range effort deceived Skonto keeper Germans Malins for the decisive goal.
The win could also have huge implications for the future of the club.
Derry boss Stephen Kenny expressed his concern recently about the financial situation following the loss of the club's main sponsor.
However, the Candystripes' progress in the competition will go some way to easing their current financial difficulties.
