Ballymena United have completed the signing of striker Andy Smith from Portadown on a two-year contract.
The former Northern Ireland striker had been in negotiations with the Sky Blues for several weeks.
Smith, who made his name with Belfast club Glentoran, had a fall-out with Portadown and was released with one year still left on his contract.
United manager Roy Walker said he had been impressed by Smith's attitude during the transfer talks.
"It is a positive piece of business for Ballymena," Walker told the News Letter.
"He brings experience, enthusiasm and quality to the table. I am confident he will prove a good signing.
"What happened at Portadown is of no consequence to me. Andy is fit and raring to go."
Smith moved from Glentoran to Preston North End in 2004 but, hindered by injuries, he failed to carve out a successful full-time career in England.
