Derry stay top by thumping Pat's

Derry City remained a point ahead of Bohemians at the top of the League of Ireland Premier Division by thumping St Patrick's Athletic 3-0 on Tuesday.

Thomas Stewart opened the scoring for the Candystripes after nine minutes and Gareth McGlynn added the second goal in the 33rd minute.

Ciaran Martyn made it 3-0 four minutes later to seal the points for City.

Stephen Kenny's side were reduced to 10 men on 67 minutes when Steven Gray was red-carded.

Derry captain Peter Hutton was taken to hospital at half-time suffering from a groin laceration.
