Glenavon boosted their chances of Premiership survival by beating fellow strugglers Newry City 2-0 at Mourneview Park on Saturday.
Tony Grant stabbed in the opener a minute before half-time after James Costello helped set up the chance.
Newry almost equalised but Chris Morgan's volley crashed off the bar.
Glenavon scored their second in the 69th minute when Trevor Molloy fired across the face of goal and Ryan Harpur tucked the ball in at the far post.
Afterwards Gerry Flynn added his Newry side found themselves in a relegation dogfight.
"Some people say we are too good to go down but that is not the case," he said.
"We play some nice football but what we must do now is scrap for every point."
