Crusaders boss Stephen Baxter has ended speculation over Martin Donnelly by stating that the winger will not leave in the January transfer window.

The 20-year-old, who has six months remaining on his contract, is a target for a number of clubs including league champions Linfield.

"Martin has said to me that he will be staying until his contract runs out," Baxter told the Newsletter.

"The fact is Martin will be going nowehere in January - end of story."

The Northern Ireland U21 international and former Sheffield United player joined Rochdale on loan for the latter half of last season.

Donnelly has been a sensation since joing the Seaview club last season and has helped the Crues to third place in the JJB Sports Premiership.

"Linfield sent a letter to us and spoke with Martin - they are entitled to do that because his contract has less than six months to run," added Baxter.

"Other clubs are being linked with the lad week in, week out, and to be honest Martin is getting fed up himself.

"I believe he has the ability to play in England or Scotland, but if he decides Linfield or Glentoran is the way forward then I will support him."
