JP Gallagher has been a consistent performer for Dungannon Swifts
Linfield manager David Jeffrey has confirmed that he has agreed terms with Dungannon Swifts defender JP Gallagher.
The full-back will sign for the Blues in the next few days after the Swifts granted the league champions permission to talk to the player.
A fee in the region of 10,000 is believed to have been agreed by the clubs and the 26-year-old is set to sign a three-and-a-half-year contract.
Gallagher will be available to play when the January transfer window opens.
"JP is an excellent left back, tenacious in the tackle and strong driving forward," said Linfield manager David Jeffrey.
"He has joined us for one reason and one reason only and that is that he believes that joining Linfield will provide him with a great opportunity to win trophies.
"He is 26 and very experienced and I am absolutely delighted with the signing and JP's attitude and desire to join us," added the Blues boss, who is likely to further add to his squad in the coming weeks.
Jeffrey has however lost out on signing Derry City midfielder Sammy Morrow, who has agreed a two-year extension to his stay at the Brandywell.
Meanwhile Linfield have made John Martin, Robert White, Matthew Doherty, Paul McAreavey and Jonathan Harkness available to other clubs.
"While these players are available for transfer when the window opens in January, I cannot emphasise enough that at no time have I told the players that they do not have a future at this club," said Jeffrey.
