Sean Friars struck the Bangor woodwork in the second half while home defender Dean Youle was sent off for apparent dissent 10 minutes from time.
Newry's Cullen Feeney had to be replaced by Sean Friars on 17 minutes after sustaining an apparent shoulder injury.
