Ballymena United skipper Albert Watson has agreed a new two-year deal with the Showgrounds club despite attracting interest from league leaders Linfield. The Blues had made an official approach for the player and held talks with the defender after last Saturday's 4-0 win over the Sky Blues at the Showgrounds.
United had tabled the contract offer several weeks ago as speculation grew that Watson would leave in the summer.
His current contract at Ballymena ends after the current campaign.
Players are allowed to hold discussions with other clubs during the last six months of their contracts.
Watson has been part of the Sky Blues' senior squad since the age of 16.
