Shane McCabe captained Dungannon before his departure |
Glentoran signed midfielder Shane McCabe from Dungannon Swifts on Monday in a deal taking him to the end of the 2009/2010 season. The Glens paid an undisclosed fee for the transfer listed 26-year-old after their initial offer was rejected.
"He's young, athletic and has a good range of passing," said Glentoran manager Alan McDonald.
"If certain other players become available in the January transfer window we would be interested."
McCabe goes straight into the squad to face Ballymena United at the Oval on Tuesday.
"He's a good acquisition - we've been looking to strengthen certain areas of the team, including midfield," added McDonald.
The Glens faced competition from Derry City for the services of the highly-rated Fermanagh man as new boss Stephen Kenny had expressed interest.
Dungannon have also listed midfielder Mark Magennis and striker Paul Baron.
Both players could head back to former clubs with Limavady eager to sign Magennis and Loughgall keen to have Baron back at Lakeview Park.
