Harry Fay's side have struggled for consistency this season |
Dungannon Swifts cut loose to claim a badly-needed Carnegie Irish Premier League win over Coleraine. The Swifts were on their way thanks to Michael Hegarty's goal on seven minutes after Paul Forker's cross.
Rodney McAree doubled Dungannon's lead on 29 minutes from a penalty and Shea Campbell made it 3-0 on 36 minutes.
Coleraine's Noel Anderson was red carded on 55 minutes and while Tommy McCallion pulled a goal back, Niall McGinn chipped in Dungannon's fourth.
Dungannon went into the game having claimed only two points out of a possible 15 while, in contrast, Coleraine were unbeaten in three games.
After Hegarty's opener, Coleraine went close to equalising but Dwayne Nelson moved smartly to stop John Neill's effort.
Neill then conceded Dungannon's 29th-minute penalty after tugging Adam McMinn's jersey in the box and McAree was on target from the spot.
Campbell hammered in Dungannon's third goal from close range on 36 minutes after Davy O'Hare had done well to block McAree's free-kick.
Things went from bad to worse for the Bannsiders in the 55th minute when Anderson was dismissed for shoving Darren Murphy to the ground.
Tommy McCallion did pull a goal back for Coleraine in the 63rd minute but Donaghmore GAA player Niall McGinn rounded matters off for Dungannon by lofting the ball over O'Hare after a good pass from Austin Friel.
