Gareth Scates made it 2-0 by scoring from Aaron Callaghan's cross on 72.

Stephen McAlorum, Paul McDonald, Sean Armstrong and Ciaran Donaghy all had chances for DC early in the game and James Lavery was close after the break.

United also cleared the ball off the line and Donaghy's header was saved by goalkeeper Paul Murphy.

In the first half, McAlorum's shot was saved by Murphy, McDonald fired over, Armstrong headed against the post and Donaghy's overhead kick went over the bar.
