Glentoran's Kyle Neill after equalising after Mourneview Park |
Glentoran came from a goal behind to beat Glenavon 2-1 at Mourneview Park. Glentoran's Jamie McGovern and Tim McCann had first-half chances while Conor Walsh and Stephen Magennis had scoring opportunities for Glenavon.
Barry Meehan scored with a low, hard left-foot shot from 25 yards after 65 minutes but Kyle Neill levelled with a free-kick into the bottom corner on 71.
Ten minutes later Gary Hamilton was brought down inside the area and Colin Nixon scored the winning penalty.
McGovern squandered the first chance of the match when he mis-kicked in front of goal and then Walsh's low effort was saved by Glens goalkeeper Elliott Morris.
Magennis headed over and was then wide with a stooping headed attempt.
At the other end, Tuda Murphy did well to save at the feet of Tim McCann.
Before half-time, Glentoran winger McCann was carried off with what appeared to be a serious injury.
After the break, Halliday went close and Magennis was just over with another effort before the goals started to flow.
