Paul McAreavey executed a cool finish past McCormick on 23 minutes after good build-up play involving Peter Thompson.
Ferguson scored a 39th-minute penalty and then ran onto a through ball and netted with a thunderous shot after 85.
Following Ferguson's opener, Alan Mannus made four fine saves in succession to deny the Bannsiders an equaliser.
McAreavey's goal secured Linfield's lead and then Ferguson found the net from the spot after referee Brian Turkington adjudged that Tommy McCallion had brought down Tim Mouncey inside the area.
Ferguson's third, a glorious strike into the roof of the net, was his 13th of the season.
