Blues boss welcomes league break
Linfield's Peter Thompson
Linfield's Peter Thompson scored a hat-trick against Larne
Linfield boss David Jeffrey says his players will benefit from the two-week break in league matches despite seeing them win 5-1 at Larne on Saturday.

There are no Carnegie Premier League matches until 24 November because of international fixtures.

"It will give us the chance to build ourselves back up to the standard I want as we approach the hectic Christmas period," said Jeffrey.

"Players carrying knocks will be able to get strength and fitness back."

Linfield's win at Larne leaves then in third place, just one point behind Glentoran and Cliftonville.

Peter Thompson's hat-trick at Inver Park on Saturday earned rave reviews from the Linfield manager.

"He consistently scores goals but I think he is back to his best," Jeffrey told the Linfield website.

"What really pleased me was his all round game play. I thought he was strong in the air and he was good on the ground.

"His predatory instincts were superb."
