Peter Thompson bagged a hat-trick as champions Linfield cruised to an emphatic victory at Inver Park. Thompson snapped up the opener after just 90 seconds after keeper Chris Keenan had dropped a long ball under pressure from Michael Gault.
His second goal in the 15th minute was a close-range header and three minutes later Glenn Ferguson got the third.
Thompson got another in the 49th minute with Marty Hunter replying for Larne before Thomas Stewart made it 5-1.
Early in the game Larne had a couple of chances when they were just 1-0 down.
Paul Hamilton saw his header saved by Blues keeper Alan Mannus and then Verner sent an effort over.
