Three players were sent-off as a late Peter McCann strike gave the Whites victory at New Grosvenor. Conor Hagan and Kevin Branniff went close for Portadown in the first half.
The trio were all dismissed for two yellow cards - Ports midfielder Michael Collins was first to go on the hour followed by Distillery's Ryan McCann.
Hagan was sent-off on 71 minutes and Peter McCann blasted into the top corner to win it in the 85th minute.
