Ballymena United celebrate after Davitt Walsh put them 2-0 up |
The pressure eased on Ballymena United boss Tommy Wright after he watched his side record their first win of the Carnegie Premier League campaign. The Ports had the better of the first half but went a goal down just before half-time when United's Kevin Kelbie headed in from a Simon Kelly cross.
Kelbie then fed the ball through for Davitt Walsh to make it 2-0.
Gary McCutcheon fired in a left-foot shot in the 75th minute for Portadown but they could not manage an equaliser.
