Institute and Coleraine had to settle for a point each as they fought out a stalemate at Drumahoe. Coleraine could have taken a first-half lead but Trevor Hutchinson headed wide of a gaping goal at the far post.
Institute's Philip Lowry had a shot saved by Lawrence McCormick who was again deputising for injured Coleraine goalkeeper David O'Hare.
Coleraine's Darren Boyce and Stephen Campbell of Institute missed late chances to grab a winner.
