Harry Fay's side have not made a good start to the league |
Dungannon Swifts secured a CIS Cup quarter-final clash against Glentoran by beating Ballymena United at Stangmore Park on Tuesday night. The decisive goal came came on 21 minutes when Ballymena defender Simon Kelly diverted Adrian McCaffrey's cross into his own net.
The lively McCaffrey hit the Ballymena woodwork in the second half.
But it was a disappointing contest with struggling Ballymena not creating a decent chance in the 90 minutes.
Dungannon were also not at their best but it was a case of mission accomplished as they set up their last-eight clash with the Glens.
The Swifts went into Tuesday's game needing a point to ensure their quarter-final place.
