Kyle McVey scored an early penalty for Coleraine

The home side took an early lead through a Kyle McVey penalty after Institute's Philip Lowry had brought down Sean Heneghan.

Andy Crawford ended a fine four-man move by heading the equaliser in the 41st minute from Lowry's cross.

Ryan Campbell hit the bar for Institute and from the rebound Crawford put the ball wide of the target.

Institute had late chance to win but Ryan McCreadie shot wide and Mark Scoltock had his volley superby saved by Coleranie keeper David O'Hare.
