Michael Collins is an influential player for the Ports |
Michael Collins has been banned for six matches for pushing referee Alan Black in the chest after being sent-off in a CIS Cup match at Shamrock Park. The midfielder received the suspension at a meeting of the IFA Disciplinary Committee on Tuesday night.
A further charge of striking a Newry City player while leaving the pitch in the 0-0 drawn game was thrown out.
Portadown official Bill Emerson said the club had received "a very fair hearing" and "accepted the outcome".
"The meeting was conducted very well," added Emerson.
Collins is currently serving a three-match ban for his dismissal during the game and he will then sit out the further six matches.
