Neither side could find the net in a game which saw Michael Collins push referee Alan Black in the chest after being sent-off for an elbowing offence. Stephen Ferguson was on the end of the challenge from the fiery Ports midfielder after 78 minutes.
Gary McCutcheon almost scored after meeting Sean Friars' clearance and Robert Robinson denied Kevin Braniff.
McCutcheon and Richard Clarke also had close range efforts blocked in the second half of this CIS Cup opener.
